The principal activities of John Gunn & Sons are in Building and Civil Engineering construction. The company was established in 1912 and became a limited company in 1953. The present Managing Director is the third generation of the Gunn family to run the business.

Our related activities, which support the core operations, and also trade externally, include Quarry Supplies and Services, House Building and Sales, Plant Hire, Ready Mix Concrete and Blockmaking.
Over the years we have successfully completed contracts for:

Dounreay - for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, various Civil Engineering / Demolition contracts

Tesco - New Store In Wick

Halliburton - Site expansion contracts at their Wester site

Highland Council - Various new roads, bridges and repair work to existing infrastructure.

Scrabster Harbour - Land reclamation

Housing - 150 House Development completed at West Gills Scrabster, with another 100 house development underway on the outskirts of Thurso.
